FLYING FROM CRETE
SUMMER 2008
All the main charter companies operate services to both Heraklion and Chania and
flights outbound from the UK can be booked on-
First Choice office in Iraklio [2810 361687] is open during the summer season and in 2007 offered one way or return tickets from Iraklio to the UK. Other charter operators may sell flights from Crete to the UK but it would be necessary to telephone their UK offices.
It may also be worth contacting a travel agency. We only have direct experience of one [Attios Travel in Xania +3028210 27040: email attios@otenet.gr]. They have good contacts with the charter companies and have given us excellent service. We assume there will be similar agencies in other parts of Crete.
If you're able to be really flexible about your travel date go to one of the airports on a changeover day and ask the holiday company reps if they have seats available. Quite often they do have and prices are usually reasonable.

Direct scheduled flights between Crete and the the UK serve Heraklion only.
Easyjet begin daily services to London Gatwick on 30 March 2008 and to Manchester on Tuesday and Friday from 02 May 2008.
From 20 May Jet2.com will operate a weekly flight [Tuesday] from Leeds Bradford.
Flights via Athens from Heraklion and Chania to Heathrow [daily], Gatwick [four per week] and Manchester [twice weekly] with Olympic Airlines throughout the year.
Alternatively, fly to Athens with Olympic or Aegean [or go by ferry] and transfer to Easyjet for Gatwick and Luton or British Airways who fly to several UK destinations.
