Included with the taxes and charges on all tickets for flights from Athens is a levy [currently €12 per ticket for EU destinations [€22 for destinations outside the EU] for the Athens Airport Development Fund.
If you change airlines in Athens you can reclaim this charge as it does not apply to transfer passengers.

These flights are for travel from Belfast and [although not UK] Dublin. We have found various flights from Belfast International Airport [BFS] to London Gatwick and Stansted which could connect with Easyjet flights to Crete from Gatwick and Manchester and Aegean Airlines from Stansted. There are also flights from Belfast City Airport to Manchester and Gatwick with possible connections with Easyjet flights to Crete. Aer Lingus also serve Manchester and Gatwick as well as Heathrow [for connection with Aegean and Olympic flights to Chania and Heraklion via Athens.
